Texans vs. Packers: Houston O-Line destroyed in loss

Brett Davis-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

The Texans' offensive line played their worst collective game on Sunday night, as the Texans were blown out by the Green Bay Packers.

The Houston Texans were dismantled by the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football, losing 42-24. In the blowout loss, the Texans only managed 321 yards of total offense, and superstar running back Arian Foster was held just to 29 yards on 17 carries.

Clearly, something was amiss in Houston on Sunday night, and it had a lot to do with the play of Houston's offensive line.

The Texans started the same five players who helped the offense average 31.5 points and 136.5 rushing yards through the first four games - left tackle Duane Brown, left guard Wade Smith, center Chris Myers, right guard Antoine Caldwell and Newton - but they didn't look like the same group.

"We didn't run the ball, we didn't hold up when we needed to, we didn't make plays in the passing game when we needed to, turnovers - just the total offensive effort (was a disappointment)," Brown said.

Houston quarterback Matt Schaub was also sacked three times in the loss. Coming into the game, Schaub had been sacked just three times all year.

Houston's offensive line will have an opportunity to rebound in Week 7, when the Texans play host to the Baltimore Ravens, in a game that could decide homefield advantage through the AFC playoffs.
