Texans vs. Packers: Andre Johnson passes 10,000 yards receiving

Troy Taormina-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Andre Johnson became the 38th player in NFL history to exceed 10,000 career receiving yards on Sunday night.

Even though the Houston Texans were dismantled by the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football, Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson had a night to remember on Sunday. With a reception in the fourth quarter, Johnson surpassed 10,000 receiving yards for his career, becoming just the 38th player in NFL history to do so.

"It's a big accomplishment, but the way things played out (tonight) it doesn't feel good," he said.

It took Johnson 128 games to reach 10,000 yards. That makes him the sixth-fastest player to get to 10,000.

Johnson now has 731 receptions for 10,014 receiving yards in his career. Johnson has led the NFL in receiving yards twice and in receptions twice. In 2008, he led in both categories.

Johnson finished Sunday's loss to the Packers with eight receptions for 75 yards.

So far in 2012, Johnson has 25 receptions for 358 yards and two touchdowns. Johnson's eight receptions on Sunday tied a season-high, as Johnson also hauled in eight receptions during Houston's Week 1 win over the Miami Dolphins.

Johnson will look to continue to add to his lofty career numbers next week, when the Texans take on the Baltimore Ravens, in an AFC showdown that could determine home field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs.
