Texans vs. Ravens: Joe Flacco will target suddenly shaky Houston secondary

Troy Taormina-US PRESSWIRE

The Ravens quarterback is having the best season of his career and faces a Houston secondary that was shredded by Aaron Rodgers and the Packers in Week 6.

The previously dominant Houston Texans defense didn't look like itself against the Green Bay Packers in Week 6, as it allowed Aaron Rodgers to rack up 338 yards passing and six touchdowns. Now they have the task of trying to slow a Joe Flacco-led offense that has been one of the NFL's most explosive.

Speaking to Dale Robertson of the Houston Chronicle, Texans defensive coordinator took responsibility for the poor defensive performance: "We got beat in some of our base coverages, and we got beat on the blitz when nobody covered the guy. That's my fault. We can't do those things."

The Ravens have been traditionally known for strong defense, but in 2012 the roles have reversed and it's a No. 7-ranked offense that has carried a No. 26-ranked defense to a 5-1 record. At the helm is Flacco, the 27-year old quarterback who has steadily improved since being selected in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft.

In 2012, he has a 92.0 quarterback rating and is averaging a career-best 281.7 passing yards per game.
