The Texans are waiting for the results from an MRI to determine the severity of Brian Cushing's knee injury, suffered Monday night against the Jets.
The Houston Texans are 5-0 for the first time ever, but an injury to star linebacker Brian Cushing could dampen much of the excitement.
Cushing left Monday night's 23-17 win over the New York Jets in the second quarter with an apparent knee injury, and the fear Tuesday morning was that it could be a torn ACL. The Texans are awaiting results from an MRI later in the day to confirm the severity of the injury, according to the Houston Chronicle.
Texans coach Gary Kubiak was less than optimistic after the game:
"I don't really know what happened,'' said Kubiak, following Houston's first primetime road victory. "They tell me he got caught on a play and his foot might've gotten stuck in the turf.
"Obviously, that's crisis No. 1. We'll take him home and get it looked at. Obviously, we're very concerned. Let's sit here and hope for the best.''
The slate gets tougher in the coming weeks, as the Texans face the Green Bay Packers, Baltimore Ravens and Chicago Bears in the coming weeks. As Clark Judge of CBS Sports writes, the loss of their 2011 defensive MVP will show what kind of mettle the team is made of.
