Texans defensive lineman Shaun Cody hurt his ribs on Sunday against Buffalo and could be limited this week in practice.
While he later returned to the field to finish out the game, Houston Texans defensive lineman Shaun Cody injured his ribs in Sunday's win over Buffalo, according to a report by Nick Scurfield of HoustonTexans.com.
Texans head coach Gary Kubiak confirmed on Monday that his veteran nose tackle's rib problem was the biggest injury his team suffered in its Week 9 victory, even though tight end Owen Daniels (hip) and receiver Kevin Walter (groin) each continue to nurse minor injuries.
"Shaun Cody has got some rib issues," Kubiak said. "We’re dealing with that. Other than that, we came out just a little nicked."
The 29-year-old Cody is listed as questionable for Week 10 against the Bears, and would likely give way to Earl Mitchell in the starting lineup if he's unable to take the field. A previous back injury that Cody has been nursing could also factor into his status, however, and Kubiak may find it best to hold his veteran defender out of action for a week in order to get him closer to full health.
"Just the combination of those things working together would concern me," Kubiak said. "But he’s always shown a way to be there for us, so we’ll see."
