2012 NFL Draft Grades: Texans Build Within The Trenches, Receive B- Grade

Stay connected for news and updates

SB Nation NFL contributor Joel Thorman gives the Houston Texans B- Grade, as the Whitney Mercilus pick doesn't evoke a ton of enthusiasm:

Houston Texans: B-

If not for a couple of their mid-round picks, I'd probably be giving them a C. I'm not a huge fan of the Whitney Mercilus pick because he doesn't have multiple years of good production in college, even if he does have a high ceiling. Brandon Brooks in Round 3 and Ben Jones in Round 4 was good value. That'll add depth as the Texans continue to remake their offensive line after free agency killed it.

The intrigue of the Texans draft will come from what happens with the wide receiver selections of DeVier Posey and Keshawn Martin, as its possible that both could be serving as the team's No. 2 and No. 3 receiver sooner rather than later.
