The Houston Texans have signed undrafted free agent quarterback Case Keenum,
about 1 year ago Update 0 comments
Record setting Houston Cougars quarterback Case Keenum was not taken in the 2012 NFL Draft, but the Houston Texans have signed him as an undrafted free agent. Keenum joins Matt Schaub and T.J. Yates on the roster as the quarterbacks and he will be battling with Yates for the backup position.
Keenum made an impression on head coach Gary Kubiak from a tryout from local Houston-area players, and Kubiak must have liked what he saw in Keenum at the tryout to give him a chance.
Undrafted free agents typically do not make the final 53-man roster, but in college Keenum was only the all-time NCAA leader in passing yards, touchdowns and completions.
Keenum was expected to be a late-round draft pick at best, so seeing him sign on as a free agent is not a surprise.
