Houston Texans tackle Shaun Cody is out with a back injury, and there is no timetable for his return. Earl Mitchell will take over the veteran's spot at nose tackle.

Houston Texans tackle Shaun Cody injured his back in Saturday's 26-13 win over the Carolina Panthers. Coach Gary Kubiak said that the extent of Cody's injury will be evaluated further, the Houston Chronicle reports.

While there is no time table for a return, Kubiak expected his tackle to miss some time. Cody's injury was diagnosed as a disk problem, and he received an epidural to ease the pain.

The 6-foot-4, 301-pound tackle recorded 23 tackles last season for the Texans. The 29-year-old is entering his eighth year in the NFL, and the youthful players on the depth chart behind him will be tested.

Cody will be replaced at nose tackle by third-year player Earl Mitchell, who recorded 27 tackles along with one sack in 2011.

Ra'Shon Harris, 25, and Hebron Fangupo, 27, are also on the depth chart for the Texans. Fangupo recovered a fumble in Saturday's victory.
