The Tulsa Golden Hurricane came back from a halftime deficit to defeat the Rice Owls 28-24 in Tulsa on Saturday afternoon.
Trailing by three points until late in the fourth quarter, the 7-1 Golden Hurricane claimed the 28-24 victory when Alex Singleton scored on a one-yard touchdown run. Tulsa started the drive with under three minutes remaining, and got into scoring position after Ja'Terian Douglas ripped off a 75-yard run on the first play of the drive.
Rice took a 24-21 lead in the fourth quarter on a 35-yard field goal from Chris Boswell. This reclaimed the lead for Rice after it led 21-14 at halftime.
Tulsa quarterback Kalen Henderson completed only eight of his 23 passes, but threw for 201 yards and one touchdown. His passing-game playmaker was Keyarris Garrett, who had three catches for 118 yards.
Box Score Hero: Douglas. The Tulsa running back finished with 169 rushing yards and a touchdown on 17 carries.
Rankings Ramifications: Tulsa received a couple points in the polls last week. Now at 7-1, Tulsa should start to get closer to the top 25.
