Ryan Tannehill's 6 TDs Carries Texas A&M To Victory In A 55-28 Win Over Baylor In The Battle Of The Brazos

In what might possibly be the last edition of the annual Battle of the Brazos, Texas A&M Aggies left an indelible stamp on the rivalry with a 55-28 beatdown of the Baylor Bears in College Station, Texas this Saturday.

Texas A&M signal caller Ryan Tannehill had a career day as he threw for 6 touchdown passes against a porous Bears secondary. Tannehill finished with a passing line of 25-37 and 415 yards to go along with those six TDs. The wealth was spread across the depth chart, as Jeff Fuller’s 5 catches and 71 yards made him Texas A&M’s all-time leading receiver with 2,615 yards in his career, passing Terrance Murphy’s mark set in 2004. Ryan Swope also had a career game with 11 receptions, 204 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Aggies’ tailback Christine Michael carried the load on the ground, rushing 21 times for 105 yards with a touchdown provided balance for A&M head coach Mike Sherman. Michael also hauled in an 8-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter.

Robert Griffin III had another monster game, going 28-40 for 430 yards and three touchdowns, but Baylor’s running game was largely ineffective and the defense failed to slow down the Aggies rushing attack or aerial assault all day. Baylor coach Art Briles had no answers for Texas A&M in the second half, as his team was outscored 31-14.

Both teams are now 4-2 on the season, as Texas A&M will carry a 2-1 conference record into Jack Trice Stadium to take on the Iowa State Cyclones next Saturday. Baylor will take their 1-2 conference mark to T. Boone Pickens Stadium to face the No. 6 Oklahoma State Cowboys.
