Texas A&M vs. Auburn: Aggies prep for terrible Tigers

Brett Davis-US PRESSWIRE

The Aggies will hope to overwhelm a poor Auburn defense on Saturday to get back on track in the SEC West.

After a tough loss to LSU over the weekend, Kevin Sumlin's Texas A&M Aggies will hit the road this Saturday for a night game against a struggling Auburn team at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

The Aggies put forth a strong effort against a well-coached LSU team with their home fans in attendance, but ultimately could not overcome a whopping five turnovers in a game where field position was paramount. The 24-19 loss forced Sumlin's team into a tie for fourth-place in the SEC West at 2-2, leaving difficult road dates against both Alabama and Mississippi State to loom large on the schedule.

Prepared to face an Auburn program that has fallen on hard times as of late, Sumlin knows that simply dwelling on his team's strong effort level against LSU will not be enough.

"We're going on the road in a situation where a team has its back against the wall, and it's a storied program and one of the winningest in history," Sumlin told Brent Zwerneman of The San Antonio Express-News. "We can't let this loss linger. It's not what happens to you, it's how you react."

Likely to come out firing after tossing three interceptions against LSU, Aggies freshman quarterback Johnny Manziel is a safe bet to bounce back from the worst performance of his collegiate career. The first-year signal caller has already scored 24 touchdowns after just seven games, but did not find the end zone as a runner for the first time all season against LSU. He will hope to take advantage of an Auburn defense that has yielded at least 200 rushing yards in each of their last two weeks.
