Texas A&M vs. Auburn: Aggies looking right at home in SEC (so far)

Thomas Campbell-US PRESSWIRE

So far this season, the Aggies have proven themselves to be worthy new members of the SEC, as they get set for a battle with Auburn on Saturday night.

In splitting the first two games in their new conference and putting up plenty of points in the process, the Texas A&M Aggies have made their mark in the SEC so far this season.

New facilities are part of an overhaul at Texas A&M aimed at bringing in high-level recruits, writes Aaron Brenner of the Ledger-Enquirer of Columbus, Ga., in a report on Wednesday.

"It's a highly energetic building," head coach Kevin Sumlin said in the report. "It's night and day, and shows our commitment to player development and the development of the student-athlete here.

"So yeah, it's a little messy out front, but everyone understands we're going through a lot of change here. I think prospects are excited about it."

Along with the fact that their only losses of the season came against two of the season's top teams in Florida and LSU, the Aggies are also getting noticed due to the numbers getting piled up by freshman quarterback Johnny Manziel, who is averaging 379.9 yards of total offense by himself this season.

"I've never seen one like him," Auburn linebackers coach Tommy Thigpen said of Manziel in the report. "He's probably the fastest quarterback in the country, NFL and college. He's a 4.3 (40-yard-dash) guy, at least. He's a handful."

The Aggies and Tigers kickoff Saturday evening at 6 p.m. CT in Jordan-Hare Stadium.
