In another setback for the draft stock of Texas A&M WR Jeff Fuller, it appears a stress fracture in his foot that he suffered during the Senior Bowl will prevent him from running in the NFL Combine this week.
The good news is that it won't require surgery and he is expected to run during Texas A&M's Pro Day on March 29:
A&M WR Jeff Fuller has a stress fracture in his foot. No surgery required.
— John McClain (@McClain_on_NFL) February 24, 2012
Fuller, a 6'4 220 senior WR, came into the 2011 season one of the top WR's in the country, but a disappointing year that saw him post significantly lower statistics across the board has dropped his stock considerably.
In the latest batch of rankings from the National Football Post, Fuller is the No. 25 WR in the country:
Impression: A talented kid who looked like one of the draft's best receiver prospects as a junior, but his game has really fallen off as a senior. A lack of focus, dropped footballs and questionable separation skills will cause him to fall.
While there's little chance that a player with his size/speed ratio and history of production in the Big 12 won't get a chance in the NFL, Fuller's sub-par senior season undoubtedly cost him a significant amount of money, and his latest injury won't do anything to help matters.
Texas A&M QB Ryan Tannehill and Houston QB Case Keenum highlight the list of local arrivals to the NFL Combine Thursday.
While Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III have separated themselves from the pack at the QB position, there's not a clear-cut No. 3 on most teams' draft boards as the combine begins.
And with the QB situation pretty dire in many NFL cities, someone may be willing to take a gamble on Tannehill high in the first round, according to ESPN's Todd McShay:
"And that's why it won't surprise me, even though most teams will have a later first-, early second-round grade on Tannehill, or some teams I've talked to even think he's later second-round and are convinced," McShay said. "So there's a wide array of opinions on him, but it wouldn't shock me if we wound up seeing Tannehill. I do think he's the third best quarterback, so if he comes off the board at 11 or 12 it certainly would be no greater shock than Christian Ponder a year ago to the Vikings."
Keenum, meanwhile, will seek to answer questions teams have about his 6'2 height, which many suspect is an exaggeration, the wide-open spread offense he ran in college as well as his advanced age (24) for a draftee.
The 2012 NFL Combine, the biggest event of the NFL's pre-draft season, kicks off Wednesday, with kickers, punters, offensive lineman and tight ends set to arrive in Indianapolis.
To better manage the crowds, the more than 300 college stars attending this year have been divided into four groups, with the marquee skill position players, like Houston QB Case Keenum and Texas A&M QB Ryan Tannehill, not set to arrive until Thursday.
Each group will undergo orientation on their first day, before submitting to media interviews, official measurements and psychological testing on Day 2, interviewing with various interested NFL teams on Day 3 and finally beginning the all-important workouts like the 40-yard dash on Day 4.
Houston, whose lack of a second WR next to Andre Johnson was exposed when the perennial All-Pro went down with a hamstring injury early in the season, will be watching the stop-watch times of players like Alshon Jeffery (South Carolina) and Kendall Wright (Baylor) closely when they run the 40 on Sunday.

NFL.com's Mike Mayock recently listed the top-five players at every position group from this year's draft class. The Texas A&M Aggies have one former player on the list to represent them: quarterback Ryan Tannehill. Mayock lists Tannehill as the third-best quarterback in this year's draft class behind Stanford's Andrew Luck, Baylor's Robert Griffin III and ahead of Oklahoma State's Brandon Weeden and Arizona's Nick Foles.
SB Nation's Mocking the Draft's scouting report on Tannehill says that he has a lot of talent but he's raw and needs to be with a coach who knows how to develop quarterbacks.
His lack of experience playing the quarterback in college makes him more of a raw prospect than most. That being said, I believe he's further along than most people believe. I'm not saying he'll necessarily be a day one starter, but I'd expect him to be challenging for the starting spot by mid-season of his rookie year (depending on who he's drafted by).
One of the best ways for me to describe him is; there's not a lot of things Tannehill can't do. He should excel in a west coast offense that includes short and intermediate timing routes when dropping back from under center; and a lot of play-action passes that involve roll-outs and bootlegs which get Tannehill on the move and make the most of his athleticism. He has a natural ability to extend the play, which not many other quarterbacks have coming out of college.
Their six-round mock draft has Tannehill being taken in the second round by the Seattle Seahawks.

The Houston Cougars will have some players going to the 2012 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis at the end of February, but there is at least one deserving player from the squad who did not receive an invite and a chance to personally impress the NFL scouts and evaluators that will be in attendance.
Wes Bunting at the Nation Football Post recently posted a rundown of the top defensive snubs among NCAA players who were omitted from the Combine. Near the top of the list is Cougars outside linebacker Sammy Brown. Here is what Bunting has to say about the 6'3", 240-pound Brown.
A highly productive pass rusher who has come a long way since being a JUCO transfer. Has a feel for getting after the passer, exhibits a good burst and closing speed around the edge and is an intriguing 34-type prospect.
Hopefully Brown will still be able to draw the interest of pro teams in this year's NFL draft. He can take some solace in the fact that he is far from the only player to be snubbed by the Combine.

The 2012 NFL Scouting Combine is one final opportunity for top college players from around the country to impress NFL scouts and evaluators one last time before the 2012 NFL Draft.
