Texas A&M Hires Terry Price To Be Defensive Line Coach

New head coach Kevin Sumlin thought he had his head coaching staff filled out, but last week the Oakland Raiders hired away Terrell Williams to be their defensive line coach. Texas A&M found a replacement hire in former Texas A&M defensive end Terry Price to be the new defensive line coach.

Price was recently hired by Texas Tech in early December to be their defensive line coach, but he chose to leave that post after two months on the job to head back to his alma mater. Before spending a short team at Texas Tech, Price was at Mississippi for the past three years and prior to that spent 10 years at Auburn from 1999-2008. Price has coached at Texas A&M as a graduate assistant with the school for one season in 1993.

For Texas A&M they are hoping that this is the last coaching move they will need to make for a while.

Texas A&M Football Loses Coach To Oakland

It's pretty cool that the new Oakland Raiders coach is a former Texas A&M football player. It's not cool that he's started poaching coaches off new Aggie head coach Kevin Sumlin's staff.

That's just what happened this week when Dennis Allen and the Raiders hired defensive line coach Terrell Williams to fill the same post in Oakland.

Not only does this put a crimp in Sumlin's coaching staff plans, since he though he was finished filling it out, but it also hurts the Aggies on the recruiting trail. Williams was a valuable member of the Aggie recruiting effort who was a big reason why they landed so many high-profile recruits along the defensive line this season.

In moving to the SEC, the Aggies will need a big defensive line to withstand those athletes, so Sumlin's replacement hire will have to be a good one. I have faith in him so far, since he's done a good job of hiring a solid staff. Plus, Sumlin is a solid recruiter himself.
