The 2012 Big 12 Championship tournament is underway in Kansas City. The conference championship and accompanying NCAA Tournament berth is up for grabs and there is at least one Texas team still keeping their hopes alive for now. The No. 9 seed Texas A&M Aggies will take on the No. 1 seed Kansas Jayhawks, who also happen to be the No. 3 ranked team in the country. At halftime, Texas A&M is trailing by a score of 40-28.

The Aggies put up a good fight throughout much of the first half and led 21-20 past the midway point. They watched their lead disappear as the Jayhawks went on a 9-0 run and opened up a decent lead, which they would only keep extending in the final five minutes of the half.

Kansas guard Elijah Johnson is leading all scorers with 15 points. Khris Middleton of the Aggies has put up 14.

Should the Aggies pull off the win, they will go on to face No. 4 seed Baylor Bears in the semifinals on Friday.
