Ryan Tannehill Is The Most Overrated QB In The Draft Per Sports Illustrated

Sports Illustrated's Stewart Mandell minces no words dissecting the Draft day worth of Texas A&M quarterback Ryan Tannehill, focusing on the quarterback's inability to rally the Aggies from the frequent, gaping implosions they suffered in the second half last season:

...Nationally, Tannehill ranked 55th in pass efficiency, one spot below Notre Dame's Tommy Rees, a guy who probably won't even keep his starting job this fall. Tannehill is admittedly raw, having only taken over the starting role midway through his junior season. He's certainly athletic, having caught 12 passes for 210 yards against Kansas State as a freshman receiver. Maybe he could develop into an elite passer with the right coach; unfortunately, he's expected to go eighth overall to the Dolphins, where his offensive coordinator will be ... his college coach, Mike Sherman.

Keep this in mind, A&M fans - Mandell's not a Draft analyst or a pro football writer. His forte is the college game, and he's of a mind to promote that level's best performers (his top underrated quarterback is Boise State's Kellen Moore, who physically is a total mismatch for pro ball). Mandell's right about Tannehill's raw skill level, but blaming he or Sherman's ability to mentor a QB on the total performance of A&M would ignore the 11 huffing, out-of-position players on defense that vaporized midway through every third quarter.
