Christine Michael On Doak Walker Watch List

With Ryan Tannehill and Jeff Fuller now in the NFL, Texas A&M will need a strong ground game to stay competitive in their first season in the SEC.

The good thing is they have one of the most highly regarded RB's in college football, as senior RB Christine Michael made the Doak Walker Award Watch List for the 2012 season. The 5'11 215 Michael rushed for 899 yards and 8 TD's on 149 carries in 2011, giving himself an impresive 6.03 yards per carry average.

The Aggies will be moving from Mike Sherman's more traditional pro-style offense to Kevin Sumlin's spread, which will change the way Michael gets his yards.

But while the spread is traditionally seen as a pass-heavy attack, it also opens up a lot of running lanes for speedy RB's like Michael. Texas A&M's offensive line, meanwhile, is one of their strongest units, which could mean a big statistical season for their star RB.

Texas A&M Reveals New Adidas Uniforms

The Texas A&M Aggies have teamed up with Adidas to have a new TECHFIT uniform heading into the 2012 season. There are no drastic changes in this new uniform, but there jerseys are similar to those from 1970s, which featured vertical stripes down the shoulder and continue down through the pants.

Adidas director of football for Adidas America Mark Daniels talks about the uniform:

"We wanted to create a special look that honors the state of Texas and celebrates the new era of Texas A&M football," said Daniels. "Our team pulled design cues from past Aggie uniforms to highlight the school's rich football history and created an updated school logo to celebrate the future of A&M football as they represent the Lone Star state in the SEC."

They do a good job of sticking with Texas A&M's traditional look, and here is a gallery of images of the new uniforms.

The uniform also will give the Texas A&M players advantages over other uniforms as the jersey weighs 30 percent less then others, stretch fit technology was implemented to help players have maximum range of motion with reduced friction an finally the jersey will keep the players cooler with moisture management fabric.

Here is a video of the new look uniforms:

Preseason All-Sec Teams: Six Aggies Make The Cut

While there isn't too much optimism about Texas A&M's fate in their first year under a new coach and in a new conference, if the pre-season All-SEC teams are any indication, the Aggies aren't coming into the SEC with that much of a talent differential.

Six Texas A&M players made one of the top three teams, with most of that talent on the offensive side of the ball.

WR Ryan Swope and OT Luke Joeckel made the first-team; RB Christine Michael and OT Jake Matthews made the third team. RS Dustin Harris is representing the special teams while first-team OLB Sean Porter was the only defensive player who made the cut.

The bad news? The SEC West should once again be brutal this year, as LSU and Alabama tied for the most selections with 11 and Arkansas is right behind them at 10.

2012 SEC Football Betting Lines Released, Texas A&M Favored In Only Two Conference Games

Of course it's way too early to glen any kind of legitamite betting lines for the upcoming college football season, but that hasn't stopped gambling web site Beyond The Bets from releasing lines on the entire 2012 SEC football schedule, including the newcomer Texas A&M Aggies.

It's not pretty for the freshmen - A&M is favored in only two games in conference play - against Ole Miss (2-10 last season) on the road in Oxford, and at home against fellow transfer Missouri to end the season. The good news is that Kyle Field seems to have the respect of Vegas, as visiting teams Florida and Arkansas are favored by less than three points, and even national title pick LSU is favored by only 11.5.

Here's the complete list:

Week 2: Florida (-2.5) vs. Texas A&M

Week 5: Arkansas (-2.5) vs. Texas A&M

Week 6: Texas A&M (-4) vs. Ole Miss

Week 8: LSU (-11.5) vs. Texas A&M

Week 9 Texas A&M vs. Auburn (-9)

Week 10: Texas A&M vs. Mississippi State (-6)

Week 11: Texas A&M vs. Alabama (-21)

Week 13: Missouri vs. Texas A&M (-2.5)

The result (if every favorite won) would have the Aggies finishing 2-6 in conference play, meaning they'd need to sweep an out-of-conference slate against Louisiana Tech, SMU, South Carolina State and Sam Houston State to become bowl eligible.
