What do you do when your team wins 70-14 over a hopelessly overmatched opponent? If you're SB Nation Texas A&M blog Good Bull Hunting, you start with the quarterback, and you stay positive:
Here is Johnny Manziel's stats through his only half of play on Saturday night: 15-20 174 yards 3 touchdowns passing and 78 yards rushing on 8 carries and two more touchdowns. More highlights. More long scrambles for big gains. More awkward passes over the middle. One nice 30 yard touchdown down the middle to Kenric McNeal while standing strong in the pocket. We got everything and more tonight.
The reaction wasn't universally positive, though. The offensive line came up for criticism:
A lot of people considered this offensive line to be one of the best in the country entering the season. Let's get real here. It's not. Not even close. This isn't the same Jim Turner coached group. They are in a new system and doing some things they aren't comfortable with yet. They are too slow off the line and the double teams are spending too much time playing around with defensive lineman before advancing to the second level to take on a linebacker to make the running play pop.

The Texas A&M Aggies used a huge second quarter to bury the South Carolina State Bulldogs on their way to a 70-14 win on Saturday night in College Station.
Freshman quarterback Johnny Manziel played only one half, but put together quite a stat line while scoring four straight touchdowns for the Aggies. To start the second quarter, Manziel rushed for touchdowns of 39 and 20 yards. He followed that up with two touchdown passes: a 30-yard score to Kenric McNeal, and a 37-yard strike to Uzoma Nwachukwu.
After Ben Malena added a 50-yard touchdown run, Texas A&M had a 49-7 halftime lead and the game was very much over. Texas A&M scored the only points of the third quarter when Dustin Harris returned a punt 96 yards for a touchdown.
When the game mercifully reached its end, the Aggies had outgained South Carolina State, 448-223.
Box Score Hero: QB Johnny Manziel, Texas A&M. In one half, the freshman was 15-20 for 174 yards and three touchdowns through the air, with 78 yards and two more touchdowns on the ground.
Rankings Ramifications: Texas A&M was well outside of the top 25, and this game will not likely change that.
But Did They Cover? A line of 45.5 isn't always easy to cover, but Texas A&M did just that.

Next Week's Schedule: South Carolina State returns to MEAC play against Norfolk State. Texas A&M hosts Arkansas in its second SEC game of the year.

The Texas A&M Aggies used a huge second quarter to bury the South Carolina State Bulldogs, as the Aggies have taken a 49-7 lead into halftime in College Station on Saturday night.
After a pedestrian first quarter in which Texas A&M took a 14-7 lead, the Aggies took control on both the arm and the legs of quarterback Johnny Manziel. The freshman signal-caller opened the quarter with rushing touchdowns of 39 and 20 yards. He then followed the runs up with two touchdown passes: a 30-yard score to Kenric McNeal, and a 37-yard strike to Uzoma Nwachukwu.
As if that wasn't enough, the Aggies made it a 35-point quarter when Ben Malena tacked on a 50-yard touchdown scamper.
Manziel finished the half going 15-20 for 174 yards and three touchdowns through the air, with 78 yards and two more touchdowns on the ground. The Aggies outgained South Carolina State 347 yards to 90 in the half.

The Texas A&M Aggies will look to tally their second win of the season when they host the South Carolina State Bulldogs on Saturday evening.
The Aggies are coming off a 48-3 romp of the SMU Mustangs in which quarterback Johnny Manziel set the school's freshman record for passing yards with 294 on the day, adding in four touchdown passes as well. Manziel also dominated on the ground, rushing for 124 yards on 13 attempts while notching two more scores with his feet.
The win followed Texas A&M's anticipated SEC debut, which saw them fall to the Florida Gators at home, 20-17.
South Carolina State, out of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, stands at 1-2 overall on the season, their lone win coming over Georgia State, 33-6, in the season opener. They were blown out on the road by the No. 24 Arizona Wildcats, 56-0, on Sept. 15.
The game, which didn't open with a spread this week, is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. CT at Kyle Field, and can be seen on TV via ESPN GamePlan or ESPN3.

The South Carolina State Bulldogs are looking to rebound from two straight losses, but the Texas A&M Aggies have no interest in being the team to help the Bulldogs turn it around when the teams meet on Saturday.
Still, as The Times and Democrat reports, Aggies players aren't overlooking their MEAC conference opponents this weekend:
"They got beat pretty badly last week," linebacker Jonathan Stewart said during a Wednesday teleconference. "They're a team on the rebound. Just because they are from a smaller conference, not a marquee conference, we can't take them lightly. We only have 12 guaranteed opportunities and we've already played two of them. We have to prepare for every single opponent as if they are a big-time opponent."
The Aggies know what it's like to have extra motivation coming off a loss, as they handled SMU a week after losing to Florida.
Saturday's game is set for a 6 p.m. CT kickoff.

Christine Michael's tweet during Texas A&M's win Saturday didn't go unnoticed by head coach Kevin Sumlin.

Freshman quarterback Johnny Manziel has had a solid start to his career at Texas A&M, putting in good performances to start off the season. He even set an Aggies record for freshman quarterbacks when he put up 294 yards and four touchdowns on SMU during Texas A&M's 48-3 drubbing of the Mustangs.
Head coach Kevin Sumlin was impressed, but knows that Manziel won't be able to get away with that much against SEC competition:
But Sumlin & Co. also know the Kerrville Tivy ex won’t be able to scoot around against much swifter SEC defenses as much as he did against SMU, why the coach also pointed out that Manziel is working on keeping his eyes down field instead of just scrambling (see Florida in a 20-17 A&M loss the week before).
Manziel had a good but not great game in the opener for A&M against the Florida Gators in their first ever SEC match, putting up 23-of-30 passes for 173 yards.
