They likely won't make a huge splash on Tuesday's 3 p.m. NFL trade deadline, but the Houston Texans would like to make a move in order to shore up their depleted linebacking corps.
John McClain of the Houston Chronicle hinted at a possible move Tuesday morning.
Texans coach Gary Kubiak said he and general manager Rick Smith will do everything they can to improve the NFL's 31st-ranked defense, including a possible trade before today's 3 p.m. deadline.
Star middle linebacker DeMeco Ryans injured his achilles tendon in Sunday's win over Kansas City and will miss the remainder of the season. With backup linebackers Xavier Adibi, Darryl Sharpton and Kevin Bentley currently mending injuries of their own (though they are expected to return following the bye week), the Texans could use some helpful additions, if only to provide more depth.
As McClain points out, it's unlikely the Texans will be able to make a big splash, and even if they were to do so, a single move won't do much to fix their struggling defense.
