All-Pro Oakland cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha said the Texans would eventually reap the benefits of the burned rookie seeds they've planted by starting Kareem Jackson from day one. Hall of Famer Darrell Green chimed in that Jackson's rookie season mirrors his own.
This week, New York Jets head coach, and respected defensive guru, Rex Ryan gave Jackson his stamp of approval.
"Kareem Jackson is going to be an outstanding player, and so is [Jets first-round pick] Kyle Wilson," Jets coach Rex Ryan said. "There's no doubt. But it's just a different game. The skill level is phenomenal in this league.↵
"(Jackson) is going to get better. I hope it's next week, not this week."
I'm sure Ryan has nothing to worry about since Jackson will likely get two steps behind Braylon Edwards, run past the shuffling Eugene Wilson, and fall before Edwards catches a 40-yard touchdown.
On the bright side, one could do a lot worse than getting kudos from an All-Pro, a Hall of Famer, and a defensive guru that aren't affiliated to Alabama or the Texans. Since Jackson is a big part of Houston's future plans, let's hope these endorsements buoy his confidence during this trial-by-fire season.
