Ed Valentine has a post over at Pinstripe Alley today that you should take a look at. Today is very special day. Why? Because, on this day seven years ago, the Astros no-hit the Yanks in Yankee Stadium, with less than two innings of help from Roy Oswalt.
↵Here's an excerpt from the article, a quote from Lance Berkman about how clueless the Astros were to the fact that they were making history. I love this.
↵↵↵↵↵But I just remember it kind of dawned on me about the sixth or seventh that hey, the staff has a no-hitter. The pitchers didn't [know]. Even Jimy Williams, who was managing at the time, made a comment that he looked up in the eighth, and he was like, 'Wait a second, we've got a no-hitter going!"
↵
Happy anniversary, Roy-O, Kirk Saarloos, Pete Munro, Brad Lidge, Octavio Dotel and Billy Wagner. You guys all deserve a nice pat on the back for, you know, no-hitting the freakin' New York Yankees.
↵And whaddayaknow? The 'Stros are heading up north to take on the Yankees again as we speak. Could they do it again? Could they possibly make ESPN again!?
