Mets Officially On Oswalt's List

According to Mike Puma of the New York Post, add the Mets to the list of viable destinations for the Astros ace:

A player who is friendly with Roy Oswalt says the Astros right-hander would accept a trade to the Mets if they remain in the playoff hunt. But the fact Oswalt is still owed about $30 million through 2011 makes it extremely unlikely the Mets would pursue him.

The player who is friendly with Oswalt said the right-hander likes the veteran fiber of the Mets.

The matter is compounded by the fact that the Mets’ fourth and fifth starters have been unusually reliable in the early goings of the season. R.A. Dickey and Hisanori Takahashi are a combined 9-2, and with Oswalt due upwards of $30 million dollars over the next two seasons, it’d become an expensive gamble to assume their production would be any more dependable than what they’ve already been getting.
