The Astros farm system isn't exactly the most attractive among baseball's numerous minor league "talent factories." But if there's reason to hope, aside from Jason Castro and a few others, it most certainly lies in young pitcher Jordan Lyles. Only 19, Lyles has impressed this season at AA Corpus Christi, going 5-4 with a 2.46 ERA. He has struck out 70 batters in 80 innings pitched, and if last night is any indication, he's only going to get better.
↵Last night against the San Antonio Missions, Lyles put together one heck of a performance.
↵↵↵Corpus Christi Hooks right-hander Jordan Lyles turned in his best start of the season on Tuesday night, except it wasn't a start.
↵The 19-year-old Astros prospect entered in the second inning after rehabbing big leaguer Chris Sampson worked the first. Lyles tied a career high with 11 strikeouts while yielding four hits over seven shutout frames as the Hooks edged the San Antonio Missions, 6-5.

11 strikeouts in seven shutout innings? Sign me up for the bandwagon, if it hasn't already left town.
