In case you didn't hear Texas A&M AD Bill Byrne's angry voicemail message that he left to a critical fan recently, here's the audio. Enjoy.↵
Great, great stuff. Personally, I love the whole "I'm a classy guy, but I want to kick your ass, so if you're up for that, call me" vibe going on. Unfortunately, an athletic director of a major university can't say things like this without getting some negative attention (ahem), so Byrne has issued an apology.↵
After reading over 200 similar e-mails the other night, I finally had one set me off and I called the writer. I'm a very competitive person and like many of you, I was raised not to back down when challenged. I've also got a bit of an Irish temper which came across in my voicemail. I regretted what I said as soon as I hung up. I should have been above that, and I made a mistake. For those of you who were offended by my response, I apologize, and I assure you that it will not happen again.↵
Stupid Irish temper. Does seem to have quite a way with words, though. Perhaps what Byrne was feeling before his "outburst" can best be described by Howard Beale. Observe.↵
