But not in a Rickey Henderson plays in the Golden Baseball League way. Clemens will throw batting practice at the Texas League All-Star Home Run Derby.
↵↵↵"He said he wouldn't mind helping out with the home run derby and said he would sign autographs on the concourse," said Monty Hoppel, the Midland RockHounds' GM and one of the event's organizers. Hoppel said he was waiting to hear from Clemens' representatives to confirm the appearance.

This reminds me of stories about Nolan Ryan throwing batting practice to his son's college baseball team. Both Reid and Reese Ryan pitched for TCU and Nolan supposedly could still hit 90 MPH after he turned 50. If I'm remembering correctly, it was also after he'd had a heart attack, though I can't find anything to back that up.
↵Since Koby Clemens is one of the Hooks all-stars, there's a good bet that papa will be throwing meatballs to his son in the derby. What do you want to bet Clemens makes the finals? Maybe some of those other contestants start seeing some high heat or brushback pitches for the "batting practice." Roger is a pretty competitive guy, after all, and you don't just turn that off when you retire...
