In the 47th minute Cam Weaver receives a great through pass along the right side of the box from Sammy Appaih. Weaver crossed through the middle of the box to a diving Dominic Oduro who barely missed the ball. Had Oduro connected, Houston certainly would have scored. Somewhere in the play, Miami defender Zach Kirby fouled a Dynamo player resulting in a penalty kick for Houston. Richard Mulrooney took the kick and shot to the goalkeeper’s left, but Patterson-Sewell came up with a palm save resulting in a corner kick. Play from the corner kick saw Navas Cobo cross from near the corner flag onto the head of Craig Waibel who nodded the ball just wide of goal.
Miami FC quickly transitioned before Navas Cobo brought down a Miami FC player just outside of the Dynamo box. Christian Gomez took the free kick for Miami and struck a shot on target but Tally Hall parried away for a save.
