LaPorte High outfielder Kendrick Perkins was taken in the sixth round of the 2010 draft by the Boston Red Sox, making him the second highest Houston-area high schooler to be picked. He will also become the second Kendrick Perkins to enter the Boston sporting world, as there is currently a Kendrick Perkins starting for the Boston Celtics.
↵It’s a great day for Perkins, as the Red Sox probably have the money to lure him away from his commitment to Texas A&M.
↵What’s a little puzzling is that College Park righthander John Simms hasn’t been taken, as of the 21st round.
↵That might be because of his commitment to Rice. He’s apparently looking for a million to sign and won’t get that this late in the draft. So, I guess MLB’s loss will be Wayne Graham’s gain.
