Cougar Baseball Signee Bit By Shark

No, that headline isn't a typo, or some sort of bizarre practical joke. It is exactly what you think it is.

Chad Rogers, an outfielder and pitcher for Galveston College, signed to play baseball for the University of Houston during the November early signing period. Last month, he was drafted in the 28th round by the Cincinnati Reds. Rogers still hasn't decided whether he will sign with the Reds or come to UH.

Two weeks ago, he was surfing off Eight Mile Island, perhaps weighing his options in his mind, when he was bit on the foot by a bull shark. He paddled to shore, and sixty stitches later, he says the ordeal will be nothing more than a road bump in his baseball career.
