Rendon Breaks Ankle, Foot

Rice Owl third baseman Anthony Rendon suffered a severe ankle injury playing for Team USA on Wednesday against South Korea.

After his right foot was apparently caught underneath him during a rundown against South Korea, there are reportedly multiple fractures in his ankle and foot. His ankle is believed to be dislocated as well.

Rendon has shown the ability to hit for power and average, and has become a plus defender while learning a new position - he played shortstop in high school. He has been the best collegiate position player over the past two years, and still has another year to play for Rice before becoming eligible for the MLB draft.

You never want to see anybody get hurt (except LeBron James, may he tear his ACL), and Rendon's a good kid with a bright future. Best wishes go out to him.
