Jermaine Taylor Made It To The Houston Rockets, Somehow

New, 2 comments

Iliana Limón, the University of Central Florida beat writer for the Orlando Sentinel, has an article out today about Jermaine Taylor's "get knocked down/get back up" career as a basketball player. About halfway down the article, Limón points out an interesting fact: Taylor almost signed with the Florida Gators to play football.

Coaches from big-name schools recruited him to play college football, strongly suggesting his future was on the gridiron. He turned down the Florida Gators' football scholarship offer to chase his hoop dreams at UCF.

Taylor, regardless of what big-name college football coaches may have told him, has always looked like a natural basketball player. Thank goodness he chose the hardwood over the gridiron, or else the Rockets wouldn't be able to dominate D-League and Summer League games quite as easily.

We're still hoping that Taylor finds a way to impact the big league club, too. If this past week's performance in Vegas was any indication, he is certainly making strides.
