Is Wade Smith Dropping Hints?

Texans.com's Nick Scurfield got a chance to lob some questions at Wade Smith before the holiday weekend. Mostly we're tossing softballs here, but this segment might be of interest to those following the Texans offensive line battles:

When you signed with the Texans in March, was your mindset that you were going to be a starter?

↵

"Definitely. I wouldn't have put myself in a situation where I feel like I wasn't going to be a starter, so that's pretty much it. All the different places that I was deciding on going to, they were all situations where I was going to be a starter. If it wasn't a situation like that, I wouldn't have considered it."

The Texans originally spun Smith as someone who would have a chance at the starting job, but wasn't guaranteed it. There is a lot of different speculative tactics you can take with this quote, but to me this is the strongest proof we have yet that the guy getting starter money is going to be starting over somebody by the time camp is all wrapped up. I'd have to think that given the glowing praise that Kubiak showered on Kasey Studdard and Antoine Caldwell as OTA's wrapped up, that perhaps Chris Myers should be watching his back.

No, Chris! I said watching YOUR back, not watching FROM your back!
