It appears that the first major free agency decision will be announced on Thursday night, as LeBron James’ camp has announced that the superstar forward will announce his plans live on ESPN. Chris Broussard appeared on Tuesday night’s Sportscenter to break the news.
John Ourand from Sports Business Journal has more on what exactly will take place:
ESPN: LeBron and his people will sell sponsorships around the hour-long special. They will donate proceeds to charity. LeBron’s “people” approached ESPN, not the other way around. Proceeds – don’t know how much – will go to Boys & Girls Club of America.
Once James makes his decision, others should soon follow. Perhaps the biggest unknown at this point is Chris Bosh, who could be headed to Miami, Chicago, New Jersey, New York Cleveland or Houston.
