Roger Clemens Deserves The Very Worst

On my personal hate scale, Roger Clemens falls somewhere between Tyler Perry and the Utah Jazz. And there aren’t many things that I hate more than the Utah Jazz. But the more Roger Clemens’ name pops up in the news, the angrier I get. At this point he deserves nothing else than a jail stint.

Maybe I dislike the guy because he’s a liar. He’s a cheat and a fraud. And it’s okay to determine such at this point. This would be an OJ-like escape from prosecution if Clemens comes away clean. There’s too much evidence pointed against him, and too little proving otherwise. At least Pettitte apologized. So did McGwire. I can move on from those. This is different.

Still, this isn’t really why I can’t stand Roger Clemens. It has to do with something else.

As a fan, it has to do with Roy Oswalt and the Cy Young award that he rightfully earned and didn’t receive back when Clemens was on the ‘Stros. Oswalt played the right way – always has – and Clemens didn’t. It’s a shame that Oswalt doesn’t have a prestigious award on his resume because he didn’t call his trainer to inject some Clemens juice.

No matter what happens, I will never, ever have any sympathy for Roger Clemens.
