In the interest of getting us one day closer to college and pro football's kickoff,s we're joined this morning by special guest blogger Charles Dickens. Accompanying literary analysis by yours truly after each phrase of his eloquent verbiage:
↵It was the best of times (REAL. MEANINGFUL. FOOTBALL. IN 12 FREAKING DAYS!), it was the worst of times (football in 12 days :( ), it was the age of wisdom (Ed Wade teaches us something everyday), it was the age of foolishness (Ed Wade teaches us something everyday), it was the epoch of belief (is he an Astros minor league prospect?), it was the epoch of incredulity (fine, I'll admit it; I don't know what that word means), it was the season of Light (why was this capitalized Dickens? lol), it was the season of Darkness (I BELIEVE IN A THING CALLLLLED LOOOOOVE), it was the spring of hope (playoffs plz, Kubes), it was the winter of despair (good lord Astros; maybe relevant again sometime this decade?), we had everything before us (football!), we had nothing before us (pre-season football), we were all going direct to heaven (well, at least Reliant), we were all going direct the other way (I mean, that's some pretty hardcore hyperbole to describe the 2010 Houston Astros but... yeah, it has been pretty rough) - in short, the period was so far like the present period (was it some stretch of hard luck for the 'Stros/Oilers/Rockets in the early 90's?), that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received (Richard Justice), for good or for evil (Richard Justice), in the superlative degree of comparison only (well i'd say mission accomplished).
↵Dude's pretty good, no? I'm trying to encourage him to start making more use of SBN's fanpost feature, but it's been a harder sell than I anticipated. None the less he also requested I pass this along:
