Sooner or later, Joseph Young will lace 'em up for the Houston Cougars.
After losing his battle for an immediate release from his National Letter of Intent to Providence, Young enrolled in classes at Houston, and chose to see the bright side of the year he will have to sit out.
I feel good coming in the footsteps of my dad, right beside my dad, my aunt, my family, to stay at home. It was tough at first. It came to my head it's like a blessing from God. He sent me the right way, the right path, to get better, to get stronger and next year play.
There had been rumors linking Young to a few other schools, but he ultimately made the logical pick, given his desire to stay near his family. Although he will miss the 2010-11 season, when he dons the Cougar uniform, he will be the school's most celebrated recruit in recent memory. Among the accolades Young earned in high school were an ESPN-RISE first team All-American selection, and Gatorade's pick as the Texas Boys Basketball Player of the Year.
