We've linked to Lee Goddard's long running feature at the Corpus Christi Caller about creating an All-Time Houston Football team before, but now the results are starting to be unveiled one-by-one. Not much luck for the Texans in cracking the list, but one that did make the first team is DE Mario Williams, who finished second to Elvin Bethea amongst defensive ends.
↵↵↵After a decent but not spectacular rookie campaign in 2006, Williams was subjected to the usual cries that the team should have taken the electrifying all-purpose Bush or homegrown national-champion quarterback Young.
↵But Williams had a breakthrough sophomore campaign with a franchise-best 14 sacks and followed it up with a fine 2008. He has totaled 35 sacks, 155 tackles and eight forced fumbles during the past three seasons.
↵Looks like a good move now. Bush hasn't settled into a steady every-down back with the New Orleans Saints. Young is rebounding gradually after a 2008 meltdown with the Tennessee Titans.
↵But Williams? He's consistent, and Texans fans hope he can be judged by the company he keeps.

I'd add that this piece is not the best in the series, as Goddard actually is racking up some interviews with a few old time Oilers to buffer most of them. Check out his pieces on Bethea and Robert Brazille.
