When St. Louis Attacks: Astros Pulling For Rare Season Win

I honestly don't know how the people of St. Louis can do it. They have to root for a team with a robo...er, a Terminat...er, the best player in the game at first base and a whiny jerk as their ace. Or is the jerk the manager? Seriously, did you see how many people Pujols killed in that YouTube clip? Maybe all three are jerks!

It's really, really hard to find anything likable about the Cardinals. They're the bane of my existence. I dislike them and their superstar with the fiery passion of a thousand suns for what they did to Brad Lidge. Which is the Astros losses to them in the past 11 seasons has been so painful.

Since 2000, the Astros have gone 83-90 against the Jerk Squad (from the Jerk Store, of course). They only have posted four seasons since then with winning records against the RedBirds. The last time it happened was back in 2006, when they went 9-7.

Why do I bring this up? Because starting tonight, the Astros have a chance to take that season series again. The Astros currently sport a 7-5 season record against St. Louis and will open a three-game set at Minute Maid Park. With one victory, they'll clinch that elusive dream that we can lord over Cards fans for the rest of the offseason.

Since dropping a three-game series back in April, Houston has gone 6-3 against STL, so it stands to reason they should win one of the next three. If they sweep the Cards (perchance I dream), it'll be the first time since 2004 that they won double-digit games against them and only the second time since 2001.

A lot is riding on this series, JA Happ and Co. Don't disappoint us.
