SB Nation Houston HS Football Game Of The Week

Not to toot my own horn or anything, but last week's Game Of The Week between Hightower and The Woodlands turned out to be one of the most exciting of this short season. The Highlanders outlasted Hightower 46-39 in the second overtime at Woodforest Bank Stadium. So, yeah, it proved up to its billing.

This week, we present another game that could prove just as memorable. Katy's Cinco Ranch will host League City's Clear Springs in a battle of unbeatens. Clear Springs is probably the more surprising team, since they have already played 2009 playoff team Pearland Dawson and a solid rushing team in Bryan, who they squeaked by last week 44-37. Cinco Ranch had no trouble with Klein Forest in Week 0 and outlasted Cy-Ridge in a 27-15 victory last week.

Cinco Ranch has posted the more explosive offense, averaging just over 450 yards per game this year. Jamel James leads the Cougars in rushing with 299 yards on 35 carries and three touchdowns. KC Nlemchi is right behind with 26 carries for 192 yards and three touchdowns.

Clear Springs calling card right now is its passing attack, keyed by quarterback Dylan Doebler. The senior is 22 for 38 with 479 passing yards, five touchdowns and one interception. His leading receiver is running back Howard Matthews, who has caught nine passes for 150 yards and two touchdowns. Chaz Edgerson is second with three catches for 140 yards and two touchdowns. The passing attack will be a test for Cinco Ranch, as the Cougars haven't picked off a pass yet this season.
