The Texans will take on the Washington Redskins this Sunday at FedEx Field, taking their first stab at the vaunted NFC East this season. The game will start at 3:15 CT and be a downplayed affair next to the Jets-Patriots game, but we're all used to that by now, no big deal. The game can also be heard on Sports Radio 610 AM, 100.3 KILT FM, or La Tremenda 1010 AM, if for whatever reason you prefer listening to football rather than watching it.
Other than Connor Barwin, the Texans emerged from their dominant victory over the Colts without much in the terms of injuries. There are a lot of limited players at practice, but nobody completely out. Brian Cushing will again miss the game due to suspension and that should force Xavier Adibi into the starting eleven this time, as the Redskins do not run anything near what the Colts ran.
The Redskins are coming off a win over their rival Cowboys on Sunday Night, but it was far from an impressive showing. The offense put up just two field goals behind many dropped passes and a running game that yielded just 3.8 yards per carry. The defense allowed 380 yards to the Cowboys, and came up with just one sack and four tackles for loss against one of the worst offensive lines in the league.
Much of the storyline of this week will revolve around protege Gary Kubiak, who was an offensive coordinator under Mike Shanahan in Denver for many years. There has already been talk about how there will be no secrets in this game.
Dirty secret though? The Texans are road favorites in this game. Giving three to the Redskins.
