In Progress: Dynamo Down 1-0 In D.C.

17 year-old rookie of the year candidate Andy Najar scored a brilliant and beautiful goal against the Houston Dynamo in the 29th minute. Najar collected a long cross just outside of Houston's box before putting some moves on Andrew Hainault, who started ahead of Mike Chabla at left back, and Adrian Serioux. The young forward then drove to the middle of the box where he powered a shot across Pat Onstad and into the back of the goal.

The goal opened up scoring in tonight's battle of the bottom of the league. Neither D.C. United or the Dynamo are teams that are accustomed to being in last place as both have had success in the last few years. Tonight's game does not have any playoff implications, but could determine which team ends in last place and receives the third pick in the fall MLS SuperDraft (first and second picks will go to the two new expansion teams).

Both teams are looking to end the season on some sort of positive note and a win for either team would certainly help the cause.
