San Jose midfielder Sam Cronin received a straight red in the 81st minute for a challenge on Brian Mullan on the far side of the pitch. The foul was not very clear, but referee Jorge Gonzalez was quick to show the red card.
If Houston want to get anything from this match it will have to use this advantage to get an equalizing goal.
