Former Brenham Wideout Collins Cleared to Play

Former Brenham standout Brandon Collins didn't play at all last season for the University of Texas, first because of academic issues (he took a redshirt to deal with his grades) and then was kicked off the team after an incident led to charges being filed against him back in January.

Well, all that seems to be behind him now after the NCAA recently approved his transfer request to Southeastern Louisiana after all charges against him were dropped back in May. Collins played for the Lions last weekend, catching one pass for 19 yards and returning two punts for 1 yard.

Collins caught 35 passes for 430 as a sophomore for the Longhorns and should be an integral part of the Lions' offense for the next two seasons. The Football Championship Subdivision team plays in the Southland Conference, which should have many familiar stops for Collins in Stephen F. Austin, Sam Houston State and Lamar University. Southeastern Louisiana (6-5, 4-3) finished fourth in the Southland last season.
