What's On Television Today: January 17th, 2011

I know, I know, this is a sports website.

Still, take a little time out of your day to think about why some of you have today off. One of the greatest orators and most compassionate human beings of our time. One of the very few people who can say that they single-handedly took strides to change this nation for the better. Martin Luther King Jr would have been 82 today, and it's a damn shame that he's not around to see it.

Locals
Milwaukee Bucks @ Houston Rockets -- 2 PM, Fox Sports Houston -- The Rockets will look to avenge a road loss from December when the Bucks come to town. Remember that this game is a little earlier than your average basketball game, due to the holiday.
Grambling St. Tigers @ Texas Southern Tigers -- 8 PM, untelevised -- Head on out to the Health & PE Center to see the Tigers take on...the Tigers in a classic SWAC matchup.
Jackson St. Tigers @ Prairie View Panthers -- 6 PM, ESPNU -- Okay, stretching the definition of local here, but it's nice to see those SWAC schools get some airtime, even if it is just ESPNU.

NBA
Chicago Bulls @ Memphis Grizzlies -- 11 AM, ESPN -- Derrick Rose and company take on a team that seems hell-bent in getting you to notice Rudy Gay
Sacramento Kings @ Atlanta Hawks -- 4 PM, NBA TV -- Two teams that both couldn't shoot well enough to beat the Rockets will get together and see if Sacramento's improved play of late will stick.

Tennis
Australian Open -- 2 AM, ESPN2 -- Early round coverage from Melbourne. Presumably this is your only chance to watch Americans win a match or two.

NCAA
Villanova Wildcats @ Connecticut Huskies -- 2:30 PM, ESPN -- Randy Foye or Charlie Villanueva: which became irrelevant faster?
Kansas St. Wildcats @ Missouri Tigers -- 4:30 PM, ESPN -- The over/under on Frank Martin glares of anger is set at 35.
Syracuse Orange @ Pittsburgh Panthers -- 6:30 PM, ESPN -- Two Big East powers hooking up. Gilbert Brown still isn't the one who played in the NFL.
Kansas Jayhawks @ Baylor Bears -- 8:30 PM, ESPN -- Probably the best chance Baylor has prior to the tourneys to show that it's for real. We're waiting, Perry Jones.

NHL
Los Angeles Kings @ Dallas Stars -- 7:30 PM, Versus -- Dallas will be looking to widen the gap between themselves and the Phoenix Coyotes as they host the bottomfeeding Kings, who aren't actually that bad, it's just a good division.
