What's On Television Today: January 31st, 2011

Hello dapper gents and ladies,

I hope things have gone well for you over the last week. Most vacations are fun ones, but sometimes there are exceptions. My absence over the past week has been caused entirely by the passing of my mother, rather than one of those fortunate ideas like "mental health breaks" or "time to go to Hawaii and watch a terrible football game between people who aren't trying."

But we shall not dwell on this, for this is neither the time or the place. Instead, let us talk about how poor this sporting TV schedule for today looks. Again, I hope you like basketball.

Local
Texas Longhorns @ Texas A&M Aggies -- 8 PM, ESPN -- A&M has lost two of three, and they'll need to right the ship against UT if they want to be anything other than a "dangerous" five seed in the tourney.
Alabama St. Hornets @ Texas Southern Tigers -- 8 PM, ESPNU -- TSU can get back to .500 by successfully destroying one of the worst teams in Division 1.

NBA
Denver Nuggets @ New Jersey Nets -- 6 PM, NBA TV -- Maybe instead of trading for Carmelo Anthony, these two teams can just combine into one team. Lets see if LeBron James knows what you call that.

NCAA Basketball
Louisville Cardinals @ Georgetown Hoyas -- 6 PM, ESPN -- It'll be all on the shoulders of Beyonce's son Preston to get the Cardinals over these inconsistent Hoyas.
Canisius Golden Griffins @ Fairfield Stags -- 6:30 PM, ESPN3.com -- Gaby Belardo will try to penetrate Fairfield's staggeringly good defense. Oh yes, I went there.
New Hampshire Wildcats @ Vermont Catamounts -- 6:30 PM, ESPN3.com -- Brendan Bald is a) a Vermont basketball player or b) a boss on the latest version of Super Punch-out!
Md.-Eastern Shore Hawks @ Hampton Pirates -- 6 PM, ESPNU -- 16-5 versus 4-16. Should be a barnburner!
