The Houston Texans moved to 8-3 on the season with a 20-13 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday despite having to go through another quarterback. Matt Leinart made his first start for the injured Matt Schaub. Leinart lasted 13 pass attempts before he suffered an injury to his shoulder.
The Texans took a 20-10 lead into halftime and made it stand up. The Jaguars' Josh Scobee converted a 35 yard field goal with 4:19 left in the game to wrap up all of the scoring for this game in the second half.
Leinart was accurate during his short stint under center for the Texans but didn't really look to throw the ball down the field. He finished 10 of 13 for just 57 yards but did have a 20 yard touchdown pass to Joel Dreessen that gave the Texans the lead for good. T.J. Yates came in and managed the game well completing 8 of 15 for 70 yards.
Arian Foster led the way on the ground with 22 carries for 65 yards and a touchdown despite two fumbles one of which led to Jacksonville's only touchdown of the game. Foster also finished with seven catches for 24 yards. Andre Johnson made his return to the Houston lineup from a hamstring injury and finished with two catches for 22 yards.
The Jaguars offense was all Maurice Jones-Drew and little else. Jones-Drew finished with 99 yards rushing and 67 yards receiving but couldn't find his way into the end zone. Blaine Gabbert struggled completing just 13 off 29 passes for 136 yards and an interception. Gabbert later gave way to Luke McCown who finished 7 of 11 for 62 yards.
