Zachary Levine breaks down Bagwell's chances of getting in on this ballot and speaks some truth.
↵Yes, a weak class will give Bagwell a good chance to bump his percentage by quite a bit. If he can gain up into the 60's percentage-wise, he's got a good shot at getting in.
↵Of course, the elephant in the room is the steroids questions that rose last season. There were plenty of voters who kept him off due to principle and now may add him, but there could be just as many who keep him off because of those rumors.
↵The question will be: are there enough voters out there who will blackball Bags that he won't be able to get over 75 percent? We haven't gotten a firm answer on during the steroids era. Certainly, Robbie Alomar got in with some character concerns, but it took him until his second season to get in there.
↵Astros fans will be frustrated this winter, but at least it's not the only thing to be frustrated about. The AL move and the GM search will give them enough of that. Bagwell's HOF candidacy will, if anything, make a nice counterpoint to all the other stuff going on.
