With Cyrus Gray and Christine Michael unable to play for the Texas A&M Aggies, sophomore Ben Malena has been asked to carry the load for the Aggies in the Meineke Car Care Bowl. Now, the third-string tailback for A&M could be making his case for MVP honors.
Malena scored on a 19-yard run in the third quarter to push the Aggies lead to 30-7 over the Northwestern Wildcats in Reliant Stadium. For the day, Malena has 68 rushing yards on 16 carries for two touchdowns along with 5 receptions for another 23 receiving yards.
Although there have been no turnovers for the Wildcats, the Texas A&M defense has been stout throughout as Northwestern has only mustered 127 passing yards through three quarters of action.
Randy Bullock knocked in his third field goal of the game late in the third quarter, to push the Aggies lead to 23 headed into the fourth quarter.
