The trade deadline is approaching closer and closer, and you've got to wonder when the domino pieces will start falling. Or, better yet, if such a chain reaction will happen.
↵With so much uncertainty looming over next season, the next 10 days could prove to be a giant stalemate. Though there is plenty of time to avoid such a lockout, the possibility cannot be ignored. And for that reason, Carmelo and his camp may have to consider signing that extension with Denver if he does not get traded.
↵No, Anthony may not want to sign and play in Denver, but he may not be playing anywhere next year. And such a decision could cost him $65 million.
↵The asking price for renting Carmelo Anthony has been high so far, so much so that most teams have balked the Rockets into contention. Do I like the asking price for one of the league's top scorers? No. But if the Rockets, or any team for that matter, obtain Anthony, he may be forced to sign the extension with his second half team.
↵What it really comes down to, and what Anthony needs to ask himself, is it really worth risking $65 million? Because Anthony may be jobless this summer.
