Longhorn Baseball Dominates Kansas Again, Looks For Series Sweep

The Texas Longhorns (30-9, 7th-ranked in Baseball America Poll), beat up on the Kansas Jayhawks (19-20) for the second consecutive game Friday, to the tune of a 9-1 final. Thursday night the Jayhawks faired even worse, dropping a 9-0 shutout to the Longhorns.

For the Longhorns on Friday night, first baseman Tant Shepherd  led the 15-hit Texas attack, going 4-5 with three doubles. Third baseman Erich Weiss added three hits of his own, including two doubles and three RBIs. Cole Green tossed seven shutout innings, allowing six hits.

Longhorn pitching has excelled in recent weeks. Texas hasn't given up more than two runs in a game since a 7-6 loss at Baylor on April 9, and have won 13 of their last 15 games,

Texas will look for the sweep this afternoon in Lawrence, then the team returns to Austin for a five-game homestand where they will host Texas State, Oklahoma, and Prairie View A&M.
