Baseball America released its latest version of the college top 25 on Monday, and if you're a fan of a Texas team, well, not much changed.
Texas A&M is still #6, Texas-Austin is still #7, TCU couldn't improve upon its #11 ranking despite a 4-0 week, and Rice managed to hold onto spot #25, despite a series loss to UAB.
Virginia *gasp* actually lost a game this week, but with a 40-4 record was easily able to hold onto its #1 ranking, while defending national champion South Carolina stayed steady at #2.
With not much movement to assess, let's take a look at who the most overrated and underrated teams are.
According to Boyd's World's psuedo-RPI rankings, the list of overrated Texas teams consists of, well, pretty much all of them. (Except for Rice, who they agree with BA should be #25.) Boyd's World has the Aggies at #9, the Horned Frogs at #24, and most surprisingly the Longhorns all the way down at #28. Boyd's World is apparently unimpressed with a 30-10 record that was wracked up against a weak non-conference schedule, filled with the likes of Brown, Hawaii and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The Longhorns have put up an impressive 13-5 record in Big XII play, but have yet to face the conference's top two RPI teams in Oklahoma and Texas A&M, and only went 1-2 against third-ranked Oklahoma State.
Lest you begin to think that Boyd's World is completely biased against the Lone Star State, it's worth mentioning that Houston checks in at #47 despite a 20-21 record, meaning that if they can put together a big season-ending run, an at-large berth to the NCAA tournament may not be out of reach.
